Welcome to Wild Desert Kids, where learning takes root in the heart of nature. Our mission is to provide children with the space and freedom to explore the world around them, fostering a deep connection to their natural environment.

Our program is designed to cater to all children, recognizing their innate affinity for the outdoors. Here, they not only flourish amidst natural settings but also discover a profound sense of self and introspection through their interactions with nature.

We are dedicated to enriching your children’s learning journey, nurturing their confidence for future educational pursuits. We firmly believe that parents and caregivers are the foremost educators, equipped with the tools to offer optimal and memorable learning experiences.

Through an immersive hands-on approach, children will delve into nature-based subjects through literature, music, movement, and engaging sensory play with their peers. This holistic approach not only enhances their gross and fine motor skills but also fosters comprehension and critical thinking. It covers fundamental aspects such as language development, color recognition, and the refinement of fine and gross motor skills.

So, what does “nature-based” mean? Our activities revolve around utilizing natural materials that are readily available. We strive for authentic and meaningful learning experiences that can be recreated at minimal to no cost. Whether it’s using leaves and sticks to craft unique art projects or harnessing natural elements to teach concepts like counting, colors, sorting, and patterns, the possibilities are boundless.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we invite you to join us in this season of growth and exploration. We are eager to share the enriching experiences that await you and your children.

We meet at a variety of outdoor locations with this group in the Henderson area and they will be announced and scheduled ahead of meetings. An outline of dates and locations will be sent in the parent handbook so you can plan accordingly.

Our meetings can/will take place at locations like Amargosa Trail, Whitney Mesa, Wetlands, Discovery Park, etc.

While not having one consistent location is not always ideal, it allows for a change of scenery, learning opportunities, and opportunities for a lot more growth with your child at this age.

We may also have 1-2 meetups at Miss Leanna’s house for holiday parties, community service, guest speakers, etc.

This is a parent-child group. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to engage with their child during the activities and lessons. This is your chance to learn ways to teach your child about the world around them in fun and different styles.  This is your time with your child. Other caregivers are allowed to participate.

Potty trained Children must be able to use the restroom independently or with the assistant of their parent/caregiver. We will not be able to assist your child in the restroom. As for younger children, diaper changing will also be left to the primary caregivers.

We ask that you please have your child use the restroom, change diaper, and wash hands before we start. It is a short hour session, and we want to make the most of our time together.

As the group meetings will be outdoors most of the time, please dress your child appropriately for the weather and terrain. We encourage kids to play and get dirty so dress accordingly! We will do our best to give enough warning if special attire is needed outside the norm. For our younger groups, we will be engaging in a lot of sensory play so attire that can get mud, paint, color, water etc. on it is highly recommended.

Feel free to bring water with your child. We will not be doing snack and ask you give them before or at the end of the group gathering due to various allergies and food restrictions/diets that families may follow.

We are founded in creating and nurturing a love for healthy eating and want to encourage this amongst the group. Some activities may include food items but not always.

We will work together to cultivate trust, respect, gratitude, and friendship in our little learning groups. We will always show respect to each other, the facility and land we explore. Please bring up any issues to us privately so we can work on the best way to handle them if they come up.

Prevention is key and we want to keep our kiddos and their family members healthy this season! If your child has any of the following symptoms, we ask that you keep your child home.

  • Fever over 100°F
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Constant runny nose
  • Rash
  • Cough or any symptoms of concern

If you show up to a meetup and you or your child show any signs of sickness, we will ask you to head home to get better and for the safety of everyone else.
